Storybook Island

Today we went to our first "attraction" in Rapid City. It is called Storybook Island. It is a free park that has storybook characters like Cat in the Hat, Tarzan, Wizard of Oz, 3 Little Pigs, etc all over the park. Lots of little houses and things for the kids to walk through and play. Plus tons of slides, swings, and merry go rounds. There is even a train ride. It is amazing all that they have and there is no admission fee. Hannah was not having a good day today so she enjoyed getting out of the empty house and running around. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our furniture on Thursday. It will be a big day.

Hannah loved that she could drive this car. She kept getting in and out.

Another favorite was the Merry-Go-Round. She would go around a few times and then switch cars. It was really hard to push so Chris did a great job getting it to go fast.

I was amazed at how she would climb all over the figures. I wish I had my camera. We used Chris' phone to take these pictures. She was giving kisses to the 101 Dalmations. You know she loves dogs.

We didn't get pictures of her petting the goats. Outside of town they have what is called Old McDonald's Farm and it is a huge petting zoo. They have goats at Storybook Island and brocheres about the Farm. We will be making a trip there soon. We decided we would try to do some of the "touristy" things to get us acquainted with the area. I am hoping to get to Mt. Rushmore soon.

Update from South Dakota

So, we are alive and well and just got cable and internet hooked up. A great day. We arrived in Rapid City last Monday afternoon. We were given a hotel room off base that we could stay in until Wednesday. I would not advise moving to Rapid the weekend of the 4th. All of America is here to see fireworks at Mt. Rushmore. Crazy! We spent Tuesday looking at base housing and rental properties out in town. After much debate we have decided to live in base housing that is off base. The negative is that the contract with the base is up next year so most people are moving out and we are the crazies moving in. There was just not a lot to choose from so we decided this was the best for us.
I like the house. It is 4 bedrooms and there is an open space downstairs that we will use as Hannah's playroom. It also has an unfinished basement for storage. I think it will meet our needs just fine.
As soon as we got an address we called about having our furniture delivered. It will not be arriving until July 16th. We have been living in an empty house. Thank you to Patri and John for feeding us, giving us a bed and letting us wash clothes. Otherwise, we would be in a world of hurt.
After the furniture arrives next week I will try to post some pictures!

Last Day in Abilene

We were able to spend our last day in Abilene on the lake. Wes and Holly graciously took us out to Lake Cisco for a last run. Here are some pics from our day.

Allison skiing

Chris doing his tricks on the wake board

Chris was able to get Davis to let go of the ladder on the boat and swim out a little--a big day for Davis! We were all proud.

Holly and me looking our finest!

My favorite 4 year old. I can not say how much I am going to miss this guy!

Later that night we had our going away party. Thank you so much Holly and Jessica. We had a great time even though I spent most of the night in tears. We are really going to miss all of our Abilene friends. You are all wonderful!

We went to Abuelo's for our "last meal"...had to get in the Mexican. London was getting some last minute "alli time". Isn't she so cute?
